This template is for each launch composer assignment between the V4 publisher and an individual composer or composer loan-out company.
Work-for-Hire and IP Assignment#
The legal term is work made for hire.
All commissioned compositions, stems, arrangements, session files, mixes, masters, metadata, and implementation-ready exports are authored as a work made for hire to the fullest extent allowed by law. Where work-for-hire treatment is unavailable, the composer assigns all copyright, neighboring rights, synchronization rights, master rights, and game implementation rights to the publisher on delivery.
Stem Ownership#
The publisher owns all delivered stems, MIDI, MusicXML, DAW sessions, loop points, adaptive-music layers, alternate mixes, and mastered cues. The composer may use short approved portfolio excerpts only after public release and only without unreleased game footage, spoilers, or isolated stem packs.
Royalty Model#
The launch game license is a flat-fee buyout with no in-game royalty. The official soundtrack release may include a negotiated net-receipts participation stated in each composer order form. Public performance royalties for composer writer shares remain payable through the relevant PRO where legally applicable.
Deliverables#
Each composer order form must define cue counts, stem counts, adaptive layer requirements, revision rounds, milestone dates, metadata, localization-safe titles, and soundtrack inclusion status.
Approvals and Revisions#
Creative approval requires audio direction, implementation review, legal clearance, and final mastering signoff. Revisions are tracked per milestone so content-lock, alpha, beta, and gold builds have explicit music status.
Credits and Soundtrack Use#
The public composer credit, soundtrack artist credit, and interview permission are recorded in the order form. Soundtrack exploitation, vinyl manufacturing, streaming distribution, and collector edition packaging are governed by the soundtrack-release addendum.
