climate/elevation/slope, a species library (tree/shrub/rock/ground) with
per-species per-biome density curves, exclusion rules (water/path/building),
blend zones between biomes, seasonal/time-of-day variation hooks, ecological
canopy-dominance competition, streaming partitioned scatter, and editable mask
painting inside a biome volume (phase 172.11)
